Maygrier, Jacques Pierre (1771-1835)
Maygrier began his medical studies at Brest in 1787. He was served as a surgeon on major vessels of the French military. In 1797 he left the naval service, and came back to Paris to further his studies. He practiced at Cochin Hospital from 1800 to 1803 and then to the Hôtel-Dieu. Maygrier then began to teach medical courses; he taught courses in anatomy and physiology. In these courses, as in his obstetric works, he has tried to simplify the study of fetal positions and obstetric maneuvers. Maygrier died in 1835.
